  A former Alabama football player who recently entered the NCAA transfer portal was arrested Wednesday along with his girlfriend following a domestic dispute. Both Jeffrey "Scooby" Carter, a freshman defensive back with the 2019 Crimson Tide, and girlfriend Terren Merritt were arrested for on third-degree domestic abuse charges in Tuscaloosa. Officers were called to an apartment at approximately 4 p.m. Wednesday after an argument between the two. Officers found probable cause to arrest both Carter and Merritt after pushing and shoving from both parties, Tuscaloosa police told AL.com Thursday morning. Both were listed Thursday morning in custody at the Tuscaloosa County Jail on $500 secured bond. - Birmingham News

  Former Maryland quarterback Kasim Hill has transferred to Tennessee. Tennessee athletic department spokesman Zach Stipe confirmed Thursday that the Volunteers have added Hill as a walk-on. Hill won't play this season due to NCAA transfer rules. 247Sports first reported Tennessee had added Hill, who has torn ligaments in each of his knees during his college career. Hill started Maryland's first 10 games as a redshirt freshman last year before tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. He had torn the ACL in his right knee during Maryland's third game in 2017. He completed 53.4 percent of his career passes at Maryland for 1,313 yards with 11 touchdowns and four interceptions. Hill also ran for 45 yards and one touchdown on 13 carries. - AP College Football

  George Brown came to the Miami Hurricanes from LSU hoping to make his mark. It never happened. Redshirt senior Brown, listed as 6-7 and 310 pounds in the UM media guide, left the team sometime Monday, the Miami Herald learned. He was not on the new roster distributed by the University of Miami on Tuesday. The University of Miami confirmed the Herald's report. - Miami Herald
